General Information

The M1 Breacher, the third heavy vehicle available to players, has unique abilities that distinguish it from standard tanks. Unlike the M270 Launcher, which is typically accessible before it, the Breacher is designed as a support unit but operates differently.

Upon deployment, it behaves similarly to a Rhino, featuring low health and DPS, engaging enemies with its stubby cannon. However, activating Breach Mode by pressing the button above the tank's icon changes its dynamics. In this mode, the player loses direct control over movement and targeting. The tank deploys a chain flail, shifting to an aggressive ramming strategy. It prioritizes the closest defensive platforms, initiating a close-quarters combat (CQC) attack upon reaching them, rapidly dealing listed DPS with a unique sound. If the target is destroyed and the tank remains intact, it charges toward another defense platform. This continues until all defensive platforms are destroyed, or the battle concludes.

The M1 Breacher's behavior in Breach Mode can be unpredictable, often leading to easy destruction without significant damage dealt. It is not particularly effective against Railguns, and its tendency to encounter minefields increases vulnerability. Furthermore, with a substantial capacity requirement of 200 and only allowing one unit per squad, organizing platoons can become challenging. It is advisable to divert attention away from the Breacher while it focuses on dismantling turrets.

As players progress, the effectiveness of railguns paired with transformers poses a significant challenge, especially against slower units. Turrets become increasingly resistant, withstanding multiple hits from siege tanks and providing less time for the Breacher to destroy them. Longer-ranged units like the M270 tend to survive longer, attacking turrets from a distance without retaliation, while still benefiting from tank protection against those outranging them. In contrast, the M1 Breacher absorbs fire and is rapidly destroyed in situations where tanking becomes impractical against powerful railguns and resilient turrets.

Trivia

  • The M1 Breacher is basically the Abrams M1A1 with a chain flail, meaning that they are based on the same vehicle.
    • Ironically, Chain flails are able to trigger minefields without causing major damage to allied units, so it's unknown why the M1 Breacher (and the MK Shredder) can't do so in the game.
