General Information

The HIMARS is a Tier 6 Heavy Vehicle, exclusively unlockable through blueprint acquisition in Events.

Weapons

The rocket pod fires explosive rockets that deal heavy splash damage to all ground targets in a moderate hit radius.

Additionally, the HIMARS can be equipped with secondary weapons. The fourth slot, unlocked at level 8, has the following options:

  • Mk 47 Grenade Launcher, which has medium range and efficiently demolishes smaller targets on the ground, especially Light Vehicles that may pose a threat.
  • M134 Minigun, which boasts average stats and remarkable versatility through its great coverage in range and targeting in addition to its bonus damage to Light Vehicles.
  • BGM-71F TOW-28, which specifically target structures from a distance with great effect, but can't hit anything else and is therefore limited in use.

Usage in Battle

The HIMARS is a highly devastating unit, being far superior over the GMLRS, and is often used until players get their hands on the Paladin or better equivalents. Its improved range allows it to safely hit the likes of Heavy Cannon and Machine Guns or to snipe Barriers and clear the way, while the T5-6 tanks like Leopard 2A7 and T-14 Armata stay slightly ahead to distract threats and take the burnt of the fire. It shares GMLRS' Vet Artillery Crew, the Rolled Steel Armor for various T5-6 units and at least two secondary weapons while being able to defend itself better and giving players smoother transitions. Access to Ceramic tiles also allow it to dismiss some Ballistic attacks. Even in small squads, the HIMARS, through its incredible splash damage, can destroy ground defenders in no time flat and still deal heavy damage to enemy turrets or structures. The speed improvement provides ease for reposition, allowing it to catch up with the rest of the platoon. Even in the worst case scenario where many air defenders appear, the Pantsir can be used to provide cover and support their secondaries. Its unique TOW secondary further accentuates its role as an attacker, allowing it to constantly fire off missiles from extreme range with equally extreme impact.

There are no particular weaknesses to the HIMARS beyond those shared with heavy vehicles. If one must be named, its high cost can offset some players, especially since the TOW Missile's blueprint is rather expensive for what it does. Although the Ghostrider cannot participate in defense, the T129 ATAK and Super Hind MKV can still pose serious threats as they can be very difficult to take down without intervention from a MANTIS, Pantsir, or IFVs like BMP. Peacemaker Mortars are likewise dangerous, as Heavy Vehicles often struggle with them in general, and HIMARS will be too slow to compensate for anything they do unless the Peacemakers are poorly positioned. To a lesser extent, HIMARS are also vulnerable up close and to specific threats that counter its rockets, such as the Gatekeeper, a defending MANTIS, and IFVs which have rocket countermeasures to throw off its munitions, so it's often better to lure them out and destroy them with Tanks before proceeding.

Trivia

  • The HIMARS is based on the real M142 HIgh Mobility Artillery Rocket System, mounted on a M1140 FMTV frame. Its munitions are unclear, but judging by its weapon type in-game, it seems to employ M31 rockets, which carry a high-explosive payload.
