Usage in Battle
The BM-30 is equipped with a Missile Launcher capable of launching massive 300mm missiles at the target location. The launcher offers versatility by allowing the player to switch between the powerful 300mm missiles and the 220mm missiles (from the TOS-1). With a base range of 400, which can be further increased by unlocking the MK III of the 300mm missile and the Targeting Systems, it can easily outrange many defenses and pose a strategical threat while other Heavy Vehicles take the heat.
Despite its strengths on paper, the BM-30 Whirlwind quickly becomes unviable and is outclassed by both the GMLRS and HIMARS. Obviously, the BM-30 Whirlwind is much weaker as its equipment grant it little to no defensive attributes, and its promotions don't give much to begin with, not to mention it lacks secondary weapons that could have helped against smaller targets. While Pantsirs can handle airborne threats, the Siege Tanks used to protect it will still be doing most of the damage. It also takes a massive 400 capacity and only allows one per squad, being extremely space-inefficient even for DPS. The final nail in the coffin is that like the TOS-1, the BM-30 Whirlwind requires setup before it fires, resulting in a lot of downtime between salvos when the Siege Tank advance, by which point the battle is pretty much over. As such, investing in the BM-30 Whirlwind may not be the best idea.
